Re: No tow hitch

No, it's designed to be there.

I too have the factory fitted tow hitch. Rated to 3500kg with a ball weight of 350kg... PLENTY!

Re: No tow hitch

No, It hooks to those frame parts, and goes around the spare.

I'll upload a picture tomorrow.

Mines not factory (I believe) I have the non-hitch bumper.

(EDIT). looks something like the bottom hitch shown in this ad.

Re: No tow hitch

okk thanks, and just wonderin not specific to this post. but on the jeep it says its 4x4 but theres no way to throw the jeep into 4 wheel drive. the dealer told me that the jeep is all wheel drive and you can just go onto the beach and off road without needing to hit a button to get it into 4wheel drive. is this true?

Re: No tow hitch

That amazon pic is for 2004. 2005 and up (WK) have a real small hitch that uses 4 bolts to attach to the frame.

It does go near the spare. I have Sahara 18" wheels and I ended up having to lube up parts of the underneath and deflating the tire to get it to fit.

Also, if you plan on lifting the Jeep, the OEM hitch sits real high. Buying a Hidden Hitch, Uhaul etc will be about 5 inches lower and you wont have to cut your bumber cover.

I see that you have the AWD, read your book your Jeep is not designed to tow a lot of weight.

I would go with MOPAR. After aftermarket tow hitches look out of place and weird looking IMO

Re: No tow hitch

Ditto, the MOPAR option is ideal, it fits properly, and attaches to points of your Jeep specifically designed by Jeep, unlike the aftermarket options.
