Re: NON SRT8 Jeep WK with Jeep SRT8 Brembo calipers and rotors

Pardon my ignorance but to Escape: why dont you sell your limited and get an SRT8 and do it up instead, I 100% mean no offense im just curious of your perspective

Then I would have to take the SRT8 all apart and redo it with limited parts!

There are high points and low points to each model. Long story short...cheaper my way with better end results!

Both have cast pieces in the engine...mine no longer does...so the engine didn't matter in that aspect. It was going to be built for a purpose (Turbo)! The 5.7 heads and intake manifold have proven to be better at producing hp/tq so I retained those parts (rebuilt the heads though, springs, ect). The 6.1 oil pump was bored out and enlarged, 6.1 stock Forged Cam, 6.1 Forged Crank custom ground, 6.1 Forged push rods. The 5.7 block has thicker piston walls (even after being bored out) = good for boost. Rods and Pistons in both are junk and have been replaced (Eagle H beams and custom made Diamond Pistons 9:1 compression).

More options and less problems with the Limited 545RFE Trans (stock and the soon to be installed SharaDon Stage 3) vs the 580. Stock Torque converter replaced.

NV245 Transfercase in the Limited is bulletproof and runs full-time 4WD (48% front/52% rear) vs the SRT8's T case which is know to be weak and full of issues and is an on demand all-wheel drive 90% rear/10% front.

ELS Diffs 7.9 front/8.3 rear we will see but so far they are holding up well and lock up instantly.

Fuel systems on both would have to be replaced so not an issue.

Braking on both replaced...lol most everything replaced.

Paid 16,500 for fully loaded 05 with 39,000 miles. SRT8's were going for 33K at that time, so for roughly the cost of a stock SRT8 I now have a Insane turbocharged Limited.

If Brembo wasn't, the parts can be manufactured by any competent machine shop, ie, make a hat and caliper adaptor block to allow fitment of an off the shelf *any brand* caliper and 400mm rotor.

To fit a 400mm setup, you would need an alloy hat to suit a WK stud pattern. Like I say above, if not available, they can be modified or milled to suit.
It would look something like one of these; (the versions here that have more of a "drum" shape are used on the rear to allow the use of the standard internal drum style handbrake on most cars.

This is the 400mm rotor we fitted to the front of the R35;

And remembner, no need to buy new. true high performance calipers of many brands are available ex US for quite reasonable prices. The benefit of this style of MONOBLOCK caliper pictured is the performance really IS much stronger than Brembo's OE supplied calipers to most manufacturers. Truthfully, calipers are not all created equal, many people who aren't into racing simply aren't aware of this.
Ex Indycar calipers are very readily available, and are very commonly used on serious track cars.

Excellent Info Ben!

I'm loving those 6 piston MonoBlocks...got any pics on the adapters to hook those up to the spindle?

I'm thinking I can keep my 5.7 spindle and just get some custom made adapters as the SRT8 has to have adapters for the MonoBlocks aswell.

Good info, thanks again!

Ah ok that makes sense. Would have to fab up a mount if I wanted to do that then cuz the superlift is different spindles

yep...the bolt spacing for the brembos is smaller so the spindles bolt spacing is different from nonSRt's
