OEM Export Tail Light Questions/Intro

Whats up fellas?

First post, but I just traded in my commander for a 07 JGC Overland. It came with some mods already done to it. It's got a magnaflow exhaust system and an Airaid intake. I'm surprised it does so well on gas when I'm not driving like an arse.

Anyway, recently divorced and the commander reminded me too much of my previous life....

I did the obligatory Inmotion mod to the NAV. I can't live without that. Thanks to the poster on the tips/tricks for using the steering wheel controls with the nav, now it's even more useful!

Anyway, I'm curious on two questions.

1. Where can I pick up the OEM export tail lights?
2. On a 2007, what's the process to get them to operate like the exports?

I have some export tails for sale. they are medium tinted. 300 shipped to the 48.

or I can help you with a contact to get your own set for about 420 US from a friendly dealer in the UK.
I prefer to do that PM and not paste his email right here for the spammers.

getting them to work on your 07 is another issue. I can help with all the wiring diagrams and such but basically, youll need to tap into the front signals for the amber bulb. and most likely the brake light switch for the brakes. I tried the 3rd light and it was too much draw.

issue is they are made for a 4 or 5 wire system, where you have seperate wires for blink and brake. on the 07 and up, they use one wire for brake and blink. I tried some electronic device for trailers that splits the signal. it works all items seperately, but when i blink with brake on you get an errant flash on the wrong side.

I have some detailed writeups of my attempts here. I am not into running wires from the front to the back and have basically given up. I even tried to buy a new rear harness but it cme with the later tail light plugs.

The trick is to use the third brake light signal to power a relay...not the actual brake lights themsleves...

Eesh, they sound like a real workout to install! Dang, they look so nice too.

Thanks for the responses!!! I really enjoy the community here (and lurking in it for the most part).
