Just switched back from Royal Purple to Mobile 1 and it's sooooooooooo much better. Also changed the PCV valve since I'm at 55k. Was gonna do the EGR valve too, but it started raining. I'll do that plus the spark plugs next week. Def a noticeable change from PCV valve and fresh oil. (my Jeep HATED RP!!)

Cool, let us know how it goes. Cut about 3/16 in. off the bolt that's hard to get out and chamfer the treads real well, and also sand/file/grind the little lip off the bolt head. This will make the change next time (if there is one for you) much easier.

Thanks maing! I read your post before so I'm DEF going to do that! I'll let you know how it goes.

Let me know when you change the EGR Valve! I have to change my PCV Valve asap! Where did you buy your PCV Valve from?
I got mine from www.rockauto.com, Paul! It came SUPER fast and was a super easy install. Mine def needed it at 55k.

I also ordered the sweet DiabloSport catch can and will do that w/ my EGR. As soon as it stops dumping buckets of water here in SoCal.

You can get one at NAPA for 28 bucks. I changed mine with spark plugs and oil jeeps running grea. Next I am going to clean the intake it was covered with oil that got pass my pvc valve. look into your intake there is alot of oil in there.

Gregums79, where you at down there? I grew up in Burbank by all the studios and lived in Northridge, Granada Hills, and Chatsworth before bailing out for greener pastures. LOL, is the speed limit still 3-5 mph on the freeways during rush hour?

RP makes the engine run rougher, as you have seen several here also attest to. It is also more costly than a top quality synthetic. It is marketing BS claiming it is superior. If it was any good, then why do no Nascar, Indy, F1, ALMS, Rolex series, or any other professional road race cars use RP ?

Greg, you're not alone.. I ran RP on my last oil cycle and went back to Mobil 1 and I'm a lot happier.

I just think RP works great for iJeep because he has a 3.7 without MDS like me. Lol. I bet Royal Purple does run really well for the 3.7 and not the HEMI.

And the "sponsor money" comment was so true.

RP doesn't seem to be best with the 5.7

I'm at 55,500 miles (2005 WK 4.7L) and the check engine light came on. It gave me a DTC Report of P0406 which is Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High = EGR position sensor input above the acceptable voltage range.

I'm thinking this means it's time to replace ECR Valve. What does anyone/everyone think?

Replace PCV too at this mileage?

Do we need to use OEM parts (or certain brands only)?

Does anything else need to be replaced at this time?

Im with you Amsoil... I run it in everything but the tranny... Just because i don't want to do go to the dealer for the trans reprogram. But the Engine, T-Case, Diffs, Air Filter, and Oil Filter are all Amsoil.

Greg, it wasn't hard at all. Just make sure you have a good amount of different extensions! Those will help a lot (Including the spark plugs in the back). I had to only remove I think the fuse box, but that wasn't hard :p. It took me a good 1 hour taking my time.
