Oil Change Indicator

Sup jeepers,
Does anyone know when does the computer flashes us the oil change indicator light?
I do all my oil changes at roughly 3k with the indicator reminding me.

I changed my oil before doing a round trip to south Carolina (1700 miles) and this weekend made a trip to Miami ( 2400 miles) and the indicator did not flash yet.

Have 500 more miles till 60k so I plan to change it then

Just curious

Re: Oil Change Indicator

The early models had a strict interval that is set via the Information Center. It could be set to a number of pre-set values.

I think (though could be wrong...I have a 2005) the later models use a wide range of inputs to determine when to change the oil, rather than a set distance, depending on the amount and type of driving being done. Since most of that mileage was strictly highway, it will probably not need changing at the same interval it would have if it was city driving.
