I didn't do this study - it was posted by someone else on another forum I'm on.

I'd recommend using the Mopar or Purolator PureONE filter - most filter area and the price is right.

Re: Oil Filters, Dissected

Ill stick with what I've used for years and through many high hp vehicles.(600+ hp) They need to do an oil eval. to really get the "best" filter....which I have done. An oil analysis on each filter is the true test. K&N gold is my choice

Re: Oil Filters, Dissected

The filtration media is different in the Mobil 1 and K&N filters, so they aren't exactly the same. Supposedly, the Mobil 1 filters better, while the K&N flows a little more.

Re: Oil Filters, Dissected

Check out bobisthoilguy.com. They discuss filters regularly.

Bottom line: Fram is mostly total junk. Wix/NAPA/MOPAR are good, reasonably priced. K&N etc are very good, but too pricey.

I use WIX/NAPA and MOPAR. If I had the nerve to use a filter for more than 5,000 miles I would switch to the higher priced ones.

Re: Oil Filters, Dissected

yep....I use my K&N gold for 5000+ and Ive had my oil analyzed...so I know they are good. This is a good test...but the real test is by having your used oil analyzed.
