One of the things to consider is the filter's efficiency. This can be measured several different ways and #'s can vary between brands, making it even more confusing. Use this as a reference, then get the beta# off of your filter of choice to see how it compares.

I ran an Amsoil EaO filter for two oil change intervals. I can't remember the precise mileage, but I'm sure it was over 16K. The second oil analysis was no worse than the first, and both were fine. Anymore, I'll just use whatever premium filter Autozone has packaged with their Castrol oil specials. It's always been either a Mobil 1 or a K&N, plus 5 quarts of oil for about 26 bucks. That's a pretty good price, and German Castrol is the oil that I now run in my 4.7L.
