Hello all, quick question here. I am looking at a 2005 WK 5.7 with under 30k miles. The carfax states that the transmission was overhauled in 2006 with 7k on the clock. The jeep has since been driven 20k miles. Should I be leery of buying this jeep? Is this a common problem with this model? Thanks and hope to be a part of your community soon!

that was 5 years ago and the jeep has been driven. If it had more problems....it would be noted. Drive it and see what you think.

I will try to take it to a mechanic but I may be driving down there on the weekend. It appears that it was taken care of at the dealer. I'm used to my old wj, how do I use the tiptronic? Just the + - on the gear selector? Thanks so far everyone!

I would not worry about the trans now with 20k mile on it. Usually when they fail with low miles it is a metal shaving left over from the factory process that finds it's way to the valve body. which would be on the back side of the filter. In my past I used to work on transmissions, and we would drop the pan and pull the valve body and all of the valves and inspect for shavings. If we did not find any we would go farther into the cluch packs ect. This is common with a low mile problem. They may of installed a complete replacement if one was to be had. In any rate if the fluid is clean and the color is right and it drives ok, I would not worry about it.

My 05's 545RFE has 84K with no problems. Just changed fluid + filters and it was all good. My brother's 05' 4.7 (same trans) is at 140K with no problems either. If something is still wrong after an overhaul, it goes pretty fast. After 20K I think it's safe. WOW, 30K on an 05? I wish my mileage was that low.
