paint question

So im in the process of painting my interior plastic parts. I used some plastic paint by rust oleom. Everything is holding up surprisingly well i did the radio bezel as a test to how well the paint would adhere and stuff and it looks great. My issue comes with the center console lid, the paint dried but it feels sort of sticky, i was thinking about spraying with a clear coat but im nervous the clear coat will crack in the cold weather. Is this possible, if it is what kind of clear coat should i get so it doesnt crack? If anyone has any other suggestions also that would be very helpful thanks...

Re: paint question

Did you sand it down or anything? That's what I would've done to prep it up properly.

Re: paint question

who knows really? Thats a softer touch plastic...so it prolly will crack when it completely dries and you use the console lid

Re: paint question

i couldnt really sand it down cause the plastic on the console lid is softer more rubbery. Is there any clear coats that are made to expand and contract with the plastic paint?

Re: paint question

nope.....you need a vinyl dye to dye the console. The clearcoat is made to get hard...which would crack and flake off
