Parking Brake

Hey guys! I am having trouble getting a tight emergency brake. I have tried adjusting the adjuster from the back of the rotors through the little opening. Should I just keep trying to turn the adjuster or do you have any other suggestions? I have tried adjusting it a fees times and it feels tight when I test it right away but after moving it feels like it loosens up?

Re: Parking Brake

Do I need to relive tension in the cable before adjusting?

Yes. So the parking brake must be disengaged before adjustments can be made. After you tighten everything at the rotors then apply the parking brake to check it...

Re: Parking Brake

Pop off your rotors and make sure the pads haven't disconnected from the shoes. Common problem with our WK's. Mine (both sides) released at around 90k miles and had to have the shoes replaced because they literally burned up.

Re: Parking Brake

I have 140k and my parking brakes are still perfect! Had to adjust them though. Never worked since I got the jeep. There's a lot of pad left

Re: Parking Brake

Fix it the hardware on the one side broke and the pad was disengaged my fault for not replacing the hardware when I replaced the shoes.
