Im wondering how to swap the passenger led warning light out with my blue led bulbs. I have replaced the regular bulbs with leds and have used resistors soldered to them, but since these are already led bulbs how would I swap them with my 3mm blue led bulbs? There is two of them on the cuircut board. Should I use my typical led/resistor install or just install the leds soldered to the board?
here's the other side of that same board, with regular bulbs that are not leds.
here's a blue led w/resistor I installed on the board. I had to cut away some of the rubber boot thing to have it fit over the resistor I have in black shrink tube.
You shouldnt need resistors..They only lower the voltage down from 12v to 5v so the LEDs can handle it...Just check the voltage going to the LEDs to be sure...also, there is a definite positive and negative side of the lamp, so be sure to solder the connections right
Leds are giving me a headache. So far I have had to resolder a few leds because they werent on the right way on the board. I know the + on the led is the longer leg, but finding the + and - on the cuircut board is hard, ok impossible for me. How can you tell on the cuircut board if its + or -? For me i just solder the bulb on and if it doesnt work during my trial fit i reverse it then it works. But thats cheesey, and there has to be a way to tell on the boards.
^^^ Resistors do not lower the voltage, its a bit more complicated than that. Here is a good read I am still reading daily to understand everything in it.
