I'm thinking you dropped a rocker arm and that's what chained to chewing up the cam and breaking the valve spring. The rockers coming loose or falling is a common issue in the 3.7 and 4.7.

While your in there I'd also upgrade to solid lash adjusters (lifters in a pushrod motor) for better high. Rpm stability. I've been looking into this myself as of recent.
Yea, the piston has very deep groves now. It doesn't look that any damage to the wall. Beginning to order parts with the my paycheck next weekend. Still in a toss up on how expensive I want to go, but also bang for the buck.. Jeff, I'm going to check into those lifters. I really appreciate the knowledge you have..

Since you have some piston damage as well I'd go ahead an swap em out. At this point you could go one of two ways. Low compression for boost or up the comp and build a nasty all motor setup.

Oh be sure to get the upgraded beehive style springs for them valves
