Re: PepBoys or Autozone sell Shorty Antenna's for a Jeep?

I had one of these shorty's.... the base began rusting to the antenna mount... not worth it, plus reception was horrible... (i know your only using SAT though). I cleaned it out and put the stock one back in.

Well that's not what I want to hear lol. I also use SAT all the time, but I don't want the damn thing rusting.

Oh well though... we'll see how it goes for 20 bucks.

like i said earlier, i've had mine for almost 4 years and have never had any rusting of any kind. if you get a short metal antenna, remove it before going through automatic car washes with brushes. the brushes will bend the antenna. if it's rubber, you'll be ok.

Reguardless if it's rubber or not, the element that is used to hold the rubber down to the antenna's base may be steal..If not then you are lucky.... that's what started to rust on me... I ordered mine from http://www.stubbyantenna.com/.. At first I loved it for how it looked... but was turned off by the rust. I'm in NYC .. lot's of salt on the roads in the winter...

Do you guys think this one would fit? It sounds like it offers better reception than the other shortys.

I don't think so... can't confirm though. And don't buy those soft rubber shortys..they flap in the wind like a flacid penis.... lol

Hmmm.. doesn't look like there is much space for it to screw down into the base....
