Plastic dent front bumper cover repair

Ok, so I bought her used and the only peeve I have at the moment is the front bumper cover. There is a good sized dent, pushed in like someone threw a knee into it right next the license plate. Can I remove the whole bumper cover, what it up and pop it out without killing the paint or making it look worse? I tried heating it up and pushing from the inside as best I could but its a really tough spot to get my hand into without removing the bumper all together.

Any advice is appreciated. Zero scratches or paint issues are associated with it, just a nice big clean dent in the painted plastic.

Re: Plastic dent front bumper cover repair

try a quality dent puller(the twist suction type)and leave it parked in the sun for awhile

Re: Plastic dent front bumper cover repair

I'm afraid the suction cup will hurt the paint especially when its hot.. don't you think it might be safer to heat it up and push rather than pull?

Re: Plastic dent front bumper cover repair

Take bumper off and push it out, thats your best bet honestly. Any dent in plastic usually will pop back out w/o too much cosmetic damage. May have cracked paint/primer though and require a nice re-paint of the area if you want the NEW look.

Post a pic up - will help us help you

Re: Plastic dent front bumper cover repair

I was debating on the SRT8 bumper, but I'd hate to make this into a street only Jeep.. this time around I want to get on some trails or at least dirt, lol

Dent in question.. driver side next to the license plate. It's hard to see, it's smooth with no other damage to it.

Hm.. some side angles might help. But you can always go to your local body shop for a free quote!

And I see what you mean about street only. They make Mopar Body kit that accents your bumper quite nicely! Check it out on JustforJeeps.com

Re: Plastic dent front bumper cover repair

its hard to tell by the pic...but usually when plastic is dented it deforms the plastic, stretching it........which in turn stretches the paint. When you pop it out...it may spider crack the paaint....

Re: Plastic dent front bumper cover repair

Hmm, I'll give it a push when its good and hot with a hair drier and see what happens. If I ruin it it'll give me an excuse for a new bumper cover. The color is ever so slightly off as well. Dealer claimed it's slightly off because they touched it up before delivery (used) and it's plastic and paint looks different on plastic and metal. Straight up lie.

Any links to this Mopar kit for 08's? If its not the SRT8 kit I'm confused? Or post up some pics?
