Re: Pleather

In the 03' Limited I drive the leather seems much softer and more pliable in my WK is real stiff, if I kneel on the back seat to grab something in the back it leaves an imprint for a day or two. My driver seat is the only seat really showing wear, I usually drive solo so my other seats look new but Im starting to worry about the driver seat its showing its age and has a scratch from a rivet on my jeans, I need to give it a good cleaning.

Re: Pleather

The pleather in my 94 and 00 GC Limiteds were way better than the WK. I hate the cheap feel of the seats. I have a small crack in my drivers side bolster also with 45,000 on the clock. It is certainly not the Castano leather I was used to in my King Ranch truck I traded to the Jeep.

Re: Pleather

my SRT seats look great after about 25k miles and 3 years. the tops seem to be leather and the sides are pleather. They are no comparison to my wifes Lexus IS leather though.....LOL

Yes there are two specific pliers that need to be used to get the cover off/back on, but I can't remember the name of them. Once I do I'll probably get a cover from Mopar parts (down the line) and do the replacement myself.

I went to a shop yesterday after talking with katzkin. The katzkin material looks different than OEM so the cover wouldn't match; the cover is $200 plus $150 for labor. I talked to the shop and he said he'd re-enfoce the bolster with some more padding and re cover that specific area but that was going to cost $300, too. I live in an expensive area and those prices sounded reasonable, so either way it's not a cheap fix.

Re: Pleather

So do no Jeeps have real leather?

I thought my seats were the genuine thing with the perforated bit being "fake"

Re: Pleather

The inner part of the seats are leather while the bolsters are plastic (in my Limited).

Hmmmmmm

Need to check that out, I thought the centre bit (perforated) was fake with the rest of the seat being real leather (in my UK model LTD)
