Question possible tranny leak

so i am attempting to install my 4Xguard belly skid and upon inspection of the area where it will be installed i noticed some tranny fluid on the tranny fluid pan.

i have never seen anything on the ground where i park. levels on the dip stick are showing good.

should i be concerned? should i get it checked out b4 i install the skid plate?

any thoughts will be greatly appreciated - thanks

Re: possible tranny leak

Ya, you're still under warranty. I'd get it fixed if it were my Jeep.

Re: possible tranny leak

I had a leaky seal on the pan and I have read a few others with this issue as well. I had the shop do it and the tran filter for I think $90.

cool - this was the type of info i was looking for - thanks

what was the reason for the leaky seal? did the bolts loosen? seal degrade?

i am under warranty but i have a $100 deductible. I'll take it to a shop i have a good relations ship with. They tell me if it;s anything i should bring it to jeep for.

thanks

i really wanted to get that skid in this weekend too - owell

Re: possible tranny leak

The Sprinter guys are changing out the Transmission Adapter Plug Housing due to leaking.
I haven't checked yet to see if we have the same thing.

Re: possible tranny leak

Did you have your 30k service performed? If so, the shop probably didn't seal it up right and should fix it at no charge.

Re: possible tranny leak

I have a tranny leak from my lines heading to the cooler, I keep an eye on my fluid and it seems to be a really slow leak so im not worried about dishing out the money right now since I hear its an expensive fix. I'd clean it off and see if you get anymore leakage, a pan gasket should be an easy fix so it might be worth while even if its a small leak so you dont need to check your fluid all the time.

Re: possible tranny leak

i haven't done my 30k service yet - i have about 33k on it.

I'm going to have a shop by my office check it out anyway. they'll tell me if i should go to jeep or not - i'm still under the 36K warranty so i have no deductible at this point.

i like taking stuff to these guys before i go to jeep so when i bring it to jeep i have a good idea of what the issue is to begin with.

i have a really hard time trusting dealerships
