Preformance questions...

Well guys, iv got a 2005 WK, 4.7L. Iv been pondering a supercharger but cant seem to find info on if its even possible with this jeep. Anyone have any details on this? If thats not possible I wanna look into an intake, possibly rework my exhaust, but iv already got a flowmaster 40 series on it. What intake do you suggest? Headers? Re-do my whole exhaust? I was thinking custom 3 inch stainless pipe and a high flow CAT in addition to a dif. muffler. Any advice is great! And last but not least, I wanna replace all the bulbs in my headlights and fogs to something whiter then stock. WITHOUT going HID whats the best option?

Re: Preformance questions...

Intake, exhaust (including headers) and a good tuner. A supercharger would be nearly useless without the others first or at the same time.

Re: Preformance questions...

A charger is do-able on absolutely ANYTHING.
But, as someone said, you'll need ALL the support mods too, its not just a matter of bolting one on.
Fuel system, intake, exhaust, would all be virtually custom, expensive, and THEN you can think about engine management.
Personally, if I wanted a really nice result, I'd steer clear of the plug-in tuners and have a high end product like a Motec wired in. Budget 4 to 5k for that, before tuning.

Re: Preformance questions...

Well in terms of money im trying to balance out performance and looks. I wanna get srt8 reps and complete the black out on the wk. So a good intake throttle body, headers and exhaust would help alot? What intake is best. What throttle body is best. Are headers mass produced or is it custom work?

Re: Preformance questions...

If it were me, I'd leave the throttle body alone, buy the reps. (I want those too), and do the exhaust and intake. I don't believe anyone mass produces headers for any of the WK's, except the 6.1, and those are long tubes. I just had a custom set built for my 5.7, and it wasn't cheap, but hopefully will make a big difference in both performance and economy. There are quite a few intakes available. All you have to do is decide which one suits your fancy. I have two Hemi powered vehicles and I built both of mine using LX SRT-8 airboxes. I am sure you could do the same for the 4.7. Be aware that most of the CAI's just make more noise and don't deliver a big boost in hp, except on the mid/top end. Many of them also draw their air from the engine compartment instead of cooler ambient air from outside the engine compartment. If you open up the stock airbox (at least on the Hemi) there is what I call a drain cup in the bottom of the box. Remove it (it just pulls off) and run a 3 in. aluminum duct from it to a point where it can draw cool air. Before I built my SRT setup for the WK that is what I did. Anyway, with two air inlets (stock and add on) you'll easily be able to draw in more air than the engine is capable of using. You just won't have the neat sounding noise that most the CAI's make. Here's a pix of the stock box with the tube, and the SRT setup up is here: http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=14396 It all boils down to how much $$$ you want to spend.

Re: Preformance questions...

Why not replace the throttle body with a Fastman TB? It will help out the intake a lot.

Re: Preformance questions...

In my opinion you have to really really really like your Jeep to put a supercharger on it, or at the minimum have a crap ton of cash you want to waste. Be ready to spend $4k easy on it. You will barely scratch $1k for all the other mods people have listed combined if you do some good searching for prices.

Re: Preformance questions...

For bulbs, if you want a whiter-light without HID's look into Sylvania SilverStar or Xtravision bulbs. Check them out on their site.
