Question Problem with new H10 fogs from Xenon Depot

I ordered a set of 5000k to replace the 6000k bulbs in my white jeep. The problem is after plugging them in and plugging them into the relay, they light up to 5000k but then a yellow band shows up along the top of the light (right side) and it looks as if it isn't fully igniting or something, you'll see the cutoff is much sharper on the right side with the new 5000k bulbs than the left side.

I checked the polarity obviously, as the first time I plugged them in the clips were on the wrong side and they didn't ignite at all.

Any ideas why I'm getting this yellow band AND a flicker WITH a ballast?

if it means anything, I think i bought the ballast from bajaHID and the new bulbs from xenon depot.

swap capsules side to side and see if it follows. then you know if its ballast or capsule/

Re: Problem with new H10 fogs from Xenon Depot

swapped capsules both ways. looks like the right one may have a problem (still dim with the 6000K bulb back in, though when I started this wasn't the case). is it possible the 5000k could have done something to the ballast?

Also, what would cause these bulbs to have such a distinct cutoff if the 6000k's seemed to flood so much light?

The bulbs are both H10, 35w each with only a different temp. The originals were from bajaHID if I remember correctly and the new ones from xenon depot (the difference is XD comes with an adapter to extend the cord to/from the ballast position and the BajaHID don't.

Also, the ballast I have are 35w ballasts.

This pic shows the cutoff with the lows on (halogen)

and here with just the fogs, notice the band at the top, it looks like they aren't fully igniting or something?

here I put the 6000k back in and noticed the passenger side was still flickering, a problem i didn't have before I put xenondepot's HID in that side:

and lastly, here's a pic, with no correction or altering showing the passenger side is more blue even though both have 5000k XD HID bulbs installed.

the bajahid kit is junk, both bulbs and ballasts are cheap. you are getting a better cutoff now because you are using a better bulb.

so the baja hid (no longer a vendor here) ballast is shot, I guess I need to get a new set from XD.

why the new cutoff though, they're in the same reflector housing, same bulbs with the same wattage, that doesn't explain the cutoff at all?

Re: Problem with new H10 fogs from Xenon Depot

Again I dont see the issue with the cheaper bulbs.. Iv always bought Xentec kits.. I just recently purchsed some replacement bulbs for my fogs since I finsihed my oem hid project so I wanted my fogs to match my low beams (4300k) Which personally I think is best for visibility..

But never have I had a bulb burn out flicker (other then needing a relay added) or have a color cutoff..

I dont get why so many others have these issues especially with the high dollar kits.

Re: Problem with new H10 fogs from Xenon Depot

Ive been on these forums and others and most problems are with the xentec kits......

the problem here is the xentec ballasts...not the xenondepot bulbs

Re: Problem with new H10 fogs from Xenon Depot

I can second that. I just recently replaced a xentec kit with a xenon depot volt kit on my fogs due to one of the ballasts going bad, and just discovered today one of my low beam ballasts is shot as well. The volt kit is definitely a much better product IMO, and I will be replacing the low beams next week with another set of the volts.

I thought he said his ballast were Baja HID?

I guess Iv just been lucky with all mine Xentec Kits. But Iv had 6 kits total so 12 separate bulbs and ballast. i If problems are that common I just assumed I would have had a issue with one or the other. ALTHOUGH I have always ran the slim ballast with the ignitor separate from the ballast. They are not as easy to hide on sportbikes.

I guess Im just the type that would rather risk buying up to 4 xentec kits to = the price of one from xenon depot or somewhere else.

Re: Problem with new H10 fogs from Xenon Depot

my ballast was from baja it was a xentec like yours.

i still dont understand how two physically similar bulbs produce such a dramatically different pattern
