Project "Space Cadet" Build Thread

Bought this 05 WK Limited about a year and a half ago. I wanted to go bigger with tires. now it has ballooned into a slightly bigger project.

I was able to find a set of JKU wheels from a '14 model, and the tires (255/75 r17) had less than 11k on them. Got the whole set for $500, including the Spare.

During Test fit, found that they would not clear the Calipers on the front. Quadratec and Spidertrax spacers to the rescue. 1.5" spacers, and the offset from the JKU wheels, and my WK now sits with a 4" wider stance.

After the Pinch Weld mod, it now wears 32" rubber instead of 29"...

REALLY wish Bushwhacker made a set of fender flares for this Jeep...

So have they been rubbing? I was searching CL and found that there are alot of "take offs" for cheap. Might go with that same tire/wheel combo.

Re: Project "Space Cadet" Build Thread

They look good but... there is a reason mechanics never use spacers and ASE shops will not do any work that requires removing, installing, (even balancing/rotating) wheels, on any vehicles that use spacers. Spacers are a band aid remedy that present safety issues and mechanics will not be held liable for damage/ personal injury on any vehicle that has them installed. Wheel bearings also will wear quickly due to uneven pressure across the surface.
