Rear end delema !

Well ....it's down to this, I have been dealing with vibes and rumbles from my rear axle for 20k miles and have been through HELL with my dealer telling me "it is a design function of your vehicle".....even got a Email from Chrysler to this effect . Now this "Normal" Rear end is whining louder and louder each day. I have been working on cars for 20+ years and know a bad setup on a rear when I see it. From what I can see I am gonna get F%$#@d by my dealer on my extended 'Life time unlimited warranty".I am at the point where I will pay for the rear myself.I don't have the tools or the time to rebuild it myself , How much will it cost to get the whole assembly from the dealer, Has anyone gone through this ?

Re: Rear end delema !

There is no other dealership you could go too? The whining you are hearing means you need a new rear differential.

Re: Rear end delema !

There is a SRT8 D44 rear end on Ebay for $850 plus shipping. It would bolt right in it would just need brakes and a few minor things.

Most dealerships will charge up wards of $1500 for a complete bolt in rear end. A good shop will charge about $800 to re build a rear end depending on whats wrong, if the gears are still good it could be much less if its just a bearing issue.

Dana 44
That would be sweet but I have the QD2 and the ELSD works by the ECM and would probably screw stuff up

I thought Dana 44's out of the SRT and CRD's have 27 spline shafts? which means they are as strong as ours. maybe a stronger housing.
