Rear Flipper Glass Struts Worn Out?

In my search for a stiffer hood strut, I started to wonder if the rear flipper glass struts on my 05' are worn out. I have had it almost 2 years and the glass has always just released open and stayed down. I looked at a 2010 and the glass lifts all the way open after release. Is this an option after my 05' or do I need replacements? Makes me wonder about my rear hatch struts too, although I wouldn't expect it to automatically lift open, it is a monster to throw open and shut. I always imagine that I'm spinning the wheel on the P.I.R. when I grab the interior handle to close it.

Its not supposed to pop all the way out automatically. Its supposed to open up, and you have to manually lift it up.

Just another thing to add on a long list of options that came after the 05's I guess. I should have never looked at that 2010.

Re: Rear Flipper Glass Struts Worn Out?

My 2006 used to open by itself, a feature I LOVE!
The struts went bad, and the dealer replaced them twice under warranty. It still opens remotely and opens itself all the way. Great for when you have both hands full

I bel;ieve they all should do it, and if it doesn't the struts are cactus.

Re: Rear Flipper Glass Struts Worn Out?

Do you guys really use the opening rear window that much? I don't really see the need to pop the glass that to put items in the cargo area. Personally I'd rather just lift the gate. If fact I think I'm going to eliminate that feature so I can build a spoiler for the hatch. I'd rather have a nice spoiler then a lift up back glass.
