With SC, the correct way of calibrating tires is to measure the distance from the bottom of the tire to center of the wheel and multiply by 2 (with the car being on flat surface, of course) and even then, you might have to take away another 1/4" after giving it a test run on the freeway.

Still a 265/70/17 on 40psi can't only be ~14.875" from ground to center.

Re: recalibrating speedo

I had my 31" (275/65/17) tires fit and when calibrating speedo had to set to 29". The distance from ground to center was 14.625

Had mine calibrated at the dealer, no issues,I have 265-70-17's, with the 3.o diesel. I believe they told me they could only change the computer to accept a 255-70-17 and that was as high as they could program? I think i will try to see how much the mph is off with the GPS. The shift points seem okay.
it may be different by model year. I have an 05 and the dealship told me my only options were 235 or 245.

Re: recalibrating speedo

actually i just called the dealership and they said they can go up to 2" bigger than what i originally had on there.. so it will still be off as i have a 32.1 and the biggest size it will recalibrate to will be a 31.5
