Can you not contact the seller directly and ask?

The original link I posted on the thread has since sold out. And I was basically just using it as an example. And I have also tried contacting xpress kit for info on the dball2 and t-harness etc...etc... but they are not responding and it also looks asthough they are currently in the middle of merging as I see the website domain has recently changed.

Basically trying to see what all options are out there, what the popular choice among WK owners is. And what process I need to go through with the options my Jeep has.

As of now it is looking to be pretty confusing with alot of variables. I would hate to drop $100 or more and not know exactly what I need/exactly what I am getting. And have issues with install/operation and have it be a failed Christmas present with no time to remedy the situation.

If anyone else has anything to ad, please feel free to chime in. Im sponging up all the info lol. Thanks

Re: Remote start upgrade options on 05 wk help?

Well, I am at a complete loss now. I thought I was confused before!. I contacted directtech.com's support (the new website that xpresskit merged into). This is how the conversation went.

"
Me:
I have a 2005 Jeep grand cherokee limited , factory keyless entry, navigation, heated seats, power locks,windows...etc..etc.. basically loaded aside from it does not have factory remote start. I would like to add remote start too it. I have been told I need the "dball2" module. But I am confused as to what harness is needed and I searched your site aswell as on crutchfield.com's website and crutchfield said all of the harness available are not compatible with my jeep which makes it even more confusing. also I am confused as to if the dball2 module would need flashed to work with my vehicle or not?. Also would like to know if I were to install, would my parking lights come on when remote start is activated?, would my heated seats?,would my heater?

Freddy says:
there is no T-Harness available for your installation
Me:
do you have an explanation as to why there is not one?. I see that there is a t-harness available for an 05 grand cherokee. But why not my 05 grand cherokee?
Freddy says:
you would have the heater but not the heated seats upon remote starting
Me:
and with which harness would that be?
Freddy says:
you would need to hardwire to vehicle
Freddy says:
as for parking light you would need to run a wire to the underhood fuse box
Me:
why would a t-harness not work?. On your website it shows there is a t-harness for a 2005 jeep grand cherokee?
Freddy says:
your vehicle has a Start wire at ignition switch, the newer vehicles don't
Me:
I don't understand why the website says there is an available t-harness for the 05 grand cherokee. But you say it does not work?. I have spoke to 2 other people with 05 grand cherokees that have installed the d-ball2 module and have used a t-harness and didn't have to hard wire or anything
Freddy says:
your install is a type 4, no T-Harness available
Me:
can you elaborate on what you mean by "type 4"
Freddy says:
if you check the installation guide, yous is a type 4, Not T-Harness
Freddy says:
Compatible
(he is referring to this https://directechs.blob.core.windows...ga20150626.pdf )
Me:
THCHC2 is the harness your website appears to show as compatible. I am confused
Me:
so what would you suggest I do to go about installing remote start. What parts / what process?
Freddy says:
Db-all2 and Hardwire to vehicle, you will have 3 X lock start
Me:
yes that is what I am looking for is a 3x lock remote start. Do you know what is involved with the hard wire process?. I was basically looking for a plug and play set up. I am confused because I am a member of a jeep forum and know of atleast 2 other people who have installed the dball 2 and used a t-harness. One guy has an 05 and he stated he used the CHTHD2 t harness.
Freddy says:
please visit the directechs website, and select your vehicle, sall the required wiring is shown for that install with DB-ALL2
Me:
can you explain why others with a 05 grand cherokee are able to use a t-harness but not me?.
Freddy says:
? no
Me:
sorry, I am not trying to beat a dead horse. I am just confused why some can but I cant. even though we have the same model year vehicle
".

And thats when I stopped getting any response.

According to them, you can't use a t-harness, you have to hard wire the dball2. And also heated seats/parking lights will not work when remote starting. And according to their installation instruction it does infact show that a 05 grand cherokee is a "type 4" which shows does not have a compatible t-harness.

I am so very confused. I am confused how it seems that some have been able to use a dball and a t-harness. I am confused on which I would need (if any were to actually work with my jeep) and confused that IF a t-harness were to work....which I would need!. Also confused if features like heated seats and parking lights would infact work with remote start. Confused if a flash would need to be done to the dball 2. Confused why their installation instructions show that an 05 Jeep is not compatible with a t-harness....yet they offer multiple t-harness for 05 jeep grand cherokee?. Also confused by someone in this thread stating they used a t-harness on their 05 grand cherokee....yet on the website that t-harness does not show as being compatible with an 05 grand cherokee?

Lots of questions without solid answers right now lol. About to just give up on the idea all together because it has already taken way to much effort to get to this point.
