Question Remote start upgrade options on 05 wk help?

Hey guys,

My wife has a 05 GC,5.7,limited. I would like to put a remote start on it for her.

I briefly looked into a mopar factory unit which looks like an expensive headache between a ton of wiring and reflashing and this that and the other.

I am looking for an affordable alternative and that is basically a plug and play set up or doesn't require a ton of wiring atleast. I would prefer it if it used the factory key also.

It does not NEED to have a huge range. Mostly to start in the drive way to warm up ....so the range the standard keyfob has should be fine.

What options are out there?. Have any of you done this?.

I found one on Amazon that seems to be basically what I am looking for but not sure if it is exactly what would be needed for my application or if anyone here has used it or similar and can mention their experience with it?.( http://www.amazon.com/Remote-Cheroke.../dp/B00ILEQ0LU )

Any help on the subject would be appreciated. Pros and cons , things to look for...etc...etc.. Thanks in advance

Looked into it a little bit. I can't figure out what harness would be required. some websites say it takes one harness where other websites say it takes a different harness. And the product website isnt very clear on what is needed and what the process involves. Also I read somewhere that you also have to buy a "x loader" to upgrade the firmware on the dball and to pick and choose what features you want activated on the vehicle?. Also not very clear on the amount of wiring involved.

Also it sounds as if it does alot I don't need...thing like lock and unlock...etc...etc... I just need remote start.

If you/anyone else can clarify exactly what I would need and exactly what I can expect to be getting into I would appreciate it.

As of right now it sounds very confusing and the opposite of plug and play lol.

Sorry for being dumb on the subject. Bare with me...detailed explanations of everything would be of great help from anyone that has experience with this kit or any others for that matter.

Thanks

You need the Chthd2 harness. It's plug and play, just follow the instructions for install. You press the lock button on your factory remote three times to start up the jeep with the option of turning on the heated seats if you have them. It's best to get it preprogrammed from the seller so you don't have to mess with it.

According to their website the chthd2 isn't supported for grand cherokee ? http://www.xpresskit.com/Compatibili...ctid=478&c=223

it looks like the website says 05 grand cherokee uses THCHC2 http://www.xpresskit.com/Compatibili...ctid=566&c=223

Sorry, am I missing something here?

The chthd2 harness is the one I used a couple years ago when I did mine. Maybe they have updated it now I'm not sure

Thanks for the input. Still at the moment having trouble figuring out exactly what is needed and would hate to buy the wrong stuff.

If anyone else has anything to ad that could help or has another suggestion it would be appreciated. Thanks

And for what it is worth. it is a limited,5.7,4x4,loaded,heated seats, power seats, power pedals, power mirrors, power windows, power locks, keyless entry, power sun roof, dual climate control,navigation...etc...etc... Not sure if any of that plays a factor into what I will need to get.
