Removing Factory Crossbars

I just got a set of Yakima Railgrab mounts and crossbars and have tried to remove the factory crossbars off of my 2005 WK but can't seem to figure it out. Obviously you unscrew the knob but then I can't figure out how to get the lower metal part off so that the factory crossbars will come up/off. I tried to push the little metal button on the side of the mounts but either I wasn't giving it enough pressure or that's not how they come off. Can someone who has done this before give me some pointers and tell me what I'm doing wrong/how to do this? Thanks in advance.

Re: Removing Factory Crossbars

SC up in here!!!!!

Somebody will chime in soon to help. I can't because I bought mine without cross bars.

If you plan on getting rid if them, how much do you want for them?

Did SC get smoked by Kentucky last year?!? Or was I just imaging that...didn't they blow like a 28 point lead?

Re: Removing Factory Crossbars

I think to remove the cross bars...you have to line them up with those little triangles on the tracks. That could be a total lie...but I never figured out what else those triangles were for.

Re: Removing Factory Crossbars

It's ok. USC has the #1 prospect this year. Can't wait to see what happens.

This thread went over the hill. Lol. I guess because of the OP's avatar.

I assume you are talking about football so yes, Kentucky did beat USC in Lexington after USC was up by 28. However the NATIONAL FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR, Marcus Lattimore, did not play the entire second half. And just a heads up, he gained 15 pounds in the off season and is up to around 230-235 on a 5'11" frame, so be ready. And just in case you forgot, here is a video you might enjoy:

Re: Removing Factory Crossbars

Can't see the video.

Hey, I give mad props to SC. They're a good team. Just had to rub that game in a bit.

Can you tell I'm a Big 10 fan?
