Removing hitch

I was thinking about removing my Hitch to allow room for a 20" spare ,plus I dont really need a class iv hitch. The only thing I would really need it for is to carry my sons bike when we go for walks.

I plan on leaving the wiring. I might put a larger reverse light in its place or???

I havnt even looked at it yet so is there any hints or Tips on removing it?

Sorry no advice on the hitch removal.. but a quick question.. do you know if your 05 bumper would be a direct replacement with my 08? or are they completely different?... I only as bc if so, would you be at all interested in switching bumpers and the hitch since you are taking the hitch off?.. i have one without the hitch cutout and dont want to cut it myself.

I would think it would ? not sure though. I would definitely consider it. I will just need to figure out a way to attach my reverse lights in a nice clean way

yea. I hear ya. well if you ever decide you are lookihg for a rear bumper without the hitch cutout, let me know. As long as they fit and they both match in body color maybe we can work something out on a swap in the future..no rush. just thought I'd throw it out there. could save us both some dough. haha We are both in PA too.. 5 hrs. haha but still.

good luck:thumbsup:

you might have to hold till it gets a bit warmer . I have a garage but it is not heated. I will let you know as soon as I do something , we can make the trade

Check jayloops build thread he customized his hitch so he could fit a huge tire underneath

Looks like you already checked out Omelet's thread, but that's what I would have recommended. I'm sure if you had any other questions, he would be willing to help answering them. I think you just need to trim the bolts and you might have to trim a bit off the back of the hitch. Some people have just trimmed it with the hitch still installed, but it would be safer and probably easier if you took it off to cut. It just might take a little more time. Good luck!

Thanks Antsjeep ! I checked out Omelets build thread and I think I can keep it in there. It is a factory one.

I just have to Trim the bolts off the back and I think it will fit
