Angry Replacing antenna mount

Yesterday, going through a residential gate (drop arm) I got my windshield smashed and the antenna torn out of the body of my jeep. Is it possible to replace this myself or am I going to have to pay the stealer ship a few hundo to do this?

Re: Replacing antenna mount

The antenna should be easy enough to replace (and if you search the forum others have described the process).

Windshield is best left to a professional professional glass installer.

Re: Replacing antenna mount

depends on how much damage the antenna caused. maybe post a pic/

remove the wheel and the fender liner and you can see all the insides of that area.

the base is easily replced and the antenna wire goes right in.

alldepends on the amount of damage to the parts

That fender damage is pretty bad. I don't think you'll get a new antenna base to sit flush on it (water could leak around the base).

Do you plan on replacing the fender as well?

Ok, here me out bro before you get all bent outta shape. (Ha!) as long as the inside part of the antenna is good (with the threads) it's easily salvageable. First clean the threads with a wire brush. You will get better reception without any corrosion. Next, hit up harbor freight for the cheapo POM rivit gun stuff (to reinstall your inner fender). Finally visit either tascaparts.com or moparonlineparts.com for your replacement base & antenna. I used a pair of Locking pliars & a washcloth to tighten it up! You could get a big o-ring yo sit under the base then cut it out with a utility knife for a tight fit. DONE!

I had to replace my fender a while back. Garage jumped out at the wife. New headlight as well. I used a HF paint gun and went to a bodyshop supply shop. Can't even tell!

Good luck!

Thanks! I've got the rivet gun (two actually) already. I'll give it a try.
