Rust...RUST....RUUUUUST! HELP ME!

My WORST fears have come to life!
I just realized that my 06' Jeep has a bit of Rust.

3 Different Locations:
-Fuel Door
-Roof
-Driver Side Door - Bottom

I took my car to a local Body Shop....They said that The Fuel Door & Roof are no big deal. But the Door is a problem

They said the Door's Rust is still in it's "early stages" (which means no bubbles) so it can be fixed easily.

They're charging $285..Take a look at the pics...is it worth what they're asking?

Couldn't see the photos, but I say fix it...period. It'll only get worse if you dont...Still might rust more even if you do, but at least you'll know if that happens, it's time to sell.

I saw the photos in the links....the gas door and the roof look really really small, but I couldn't tell what was going on in the other pics. Looks like some kind of seam or joint is starting to rust.
How "nice" is your Jeep? I mean some guys here are trail kind of guys and others are more like custom rides....If its a trail jeep I'd tryvto fix em myself but if it's a nice ride, you may wannd stop this now...especiallyvwhatever is going on with that door. But that's just my dumb opinion...see what some of the more experienced guys around here say and then decide.

Thanks for the advice boss!
But yeah, My Jeep is as Stock as it gets...Nothing has been modified

As a college student, I can't afford any mods
But If I knew how to fix rust myself, I totally would

I have a TON of respect for people who know how to fix Rust...It's a skill I wish I had

A friend at work went to night classes at the local HS for body shop repair just so he could do small repairs himself....of course he probably wasn't carrying sixty two units, trying to get through statistics for the second time, and trying to get through the best partying years of his life all at the same time ;-)

Re: Rust...RUST....RUUUUUST! HELP ME!

I had bought some penetrating oil years ago that is meant to spray inside the door to prevent the rust you see at the bottom of the door, I guess I should search my garage and spray all my jeep's doors!

There is a substance we use where I work, which, when applied in a closed space, will prohibit corrosion. Its made by Shell oil and it's called VPI 260. ( Vapor Phase Inhibitor)
My company builds industrial gas turbines, and we put a couple of tablespoons in a small plastic cup at each end of the turbine before shipping covers are placed over each end of the turbine. The VPI "gasses off" and no corrosion takes place in the protected areas. It is safe for use around humans and works even if there is moisture in the area. Google it and see what you can find out
