School me on the key fob.

Hey guys, ive got a 2008 wk and just recently had to replace the battery in my key fob. I looked up how to take the thing apart, but somehow still managed to break it. It functions fine but i had to tape the end of it to keep it closed now. Whoops. This is the only key fob I have, and I have been meaning go get a second one, so now is the time. My fob has the remote start button as well as the rear glass button. I am wondering what determines whether or not i would be able to use a replacement fob that has the rear hatch button on it as well? Is my jeep not programmed to utilize that button on the fob? I just find it odd that my current fob allows me to open the glass, but not the rear hatch. Also, are there any easter eggs involving the fob? For example, on my BMW I was able to hold down the unlock button which would roll down the windows, and if i continued to hold it, it would open my rear vent windows (coupe) as well as my sunroof.

Re: School me on the key fob.

If you hold down the unlock button, it will roll down the front windows.

Re: School me on the key fob.

You will need to go to the dealer if you only have one fob. If you had 2 you could program a third yourself.

Re: School me on the key fob.

IIRC, they all (for your year/model) have the liftglass button. the liftgate button is for those with power liftgate. FOBIK should work but don't expect the liftgate to start opening on it's own.

Re: School me on the key fob.

Oh okay. I didnt realize power liftgate was an option, i thought it just popped it open a little. So i coulduse a fob that had the power hatch button, remote start, and flipper button? (Obviously the power hatch wouldnt work)? I also found a locksmith that will program my fob for 35 dollars.

It could be a feature for the newer(08+?) WKs...

Try double press.. unlock first on the Key-Fob and HOLD for 3 secs on the second press

I wonder if that means "open" as in ajar, or "open" as in unlocked...
