Also, I feel like an idiot, but I am pretty sure the brake booster line is circled in red in the pic below. right???? the instructions on the can say to increase revs 500-1000 over idle while introducing the seafoam..did you guys do that and/or have a 2nd set of hands during the cleaning? I just got my oil changed but may do this again and get the oil change asap! thanks again for ll yuor help guys...this is why JG is such an awesome place!

Re: Seafoam Throttle Body/Intake Cleaner

The can I looked at was liquid, not aerosol.

Will have to look at engine after dealer services it tomorrow to see where power brake vacuum drag line leads (just got home from school and it's late). With our electronic throttle (drive by wire), someone will probably need to hold the acceleration down to keep the RPM's up while you innoculate the engine with SeaFoam cleaner.

I'll watch to see how you do. I will also ask the dealer tomorrow about his comprehensive fuel system cleaner treatment for the rest of JG. I know it's more than a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner.

Howdja like to clean my engine bay? Yours is outstanding.

Re: Seafoam Throttle Body/Intake Cleaner

The can I used was liquid as well, picked it up from Advanced Auto for around $3. The circle in red you have looks the brake vacuum line from what I can tell. It's in the exact same area of where it should be so I'm sure you've found it. It's a hose attached to an opening at the very back of the engine bay, you pull the rubber grommet off and you'll here the suction/whistling from the hole. I did not have anyone hold the RPM's when I did mine, possibly why it died a couple times.

Re: Seafoam Throttle Body/Intake Cleaner

Well, I just did mine. '05 with 114k. I ended up pouring about 1/2 a can in mine trying to stall it I put it into the tube just behind the TB. It said to make sure you inserted it where it would feed all cylinders, so i thought it would be good................HOLY COW!!! it was smokin before I got it to stall(damn drive by wire kept reving it).the can i got said to only let it sit for 5 min. I let it run in the drive for a few, then took it for a spin, it smoked ALOT and some was blue, so I think it cleaned the oil out of my intake as well(still dont have a catch can) when i punched it it left a cloud that filled the street! didnt stop smokin for at least 3 miles.its been idling very rough ,but not any more

Thumbs up Re: Seafoam Throttle Body/Intake Cleaner

08 HEMI I was looking for this type thread Ive got alot of oil in my intake on my 5.7l Hemi too. I cleaned the tb plates, But I did not take the tb off is it easy to do. When you took off the TB could you put your hand in the intake and clean up the oil in there? 08 Hemi what is that filter thing on left side of your engine. I just finished watching the video about the seafoam spray that looks like the way to go to clean the intake.

Thanks

Ok Guys I was reading on a LS1 forum about seaform and the guy over there is using mopar combustion chamber cleaner and spraying into the intake. Has anybody used this stuff. If it is made my mopar it must be safe to use.

Re: Seafoam Throttle Body/Intake Cleaner

Yeah,I HAD to paint the engine,I mean after all its my 1st hemi, it needs to be hemi orange. (Was my 1st mod). I didn't add any to my oil as its fresh, but if you do,and the engine's dirty it will need changing soon. I run a little in my 4.0 xj most of the time ,it seems to help keep my lifters free-er /quieter.
Haven't used the mopar brand cleaner myself seems like as long as you don't let the elec motor area of the TB get too wet its ok. I sprayed mine out a bunch when I 1st got it(before reading the cautions) and its ok. I used the little tube to spray deep into the intake and it got visibly cleaner.

Does it clean it very good or is there still oil and crap in there. I was thing of taking the tb off and reaching in with a old rag and wiping it out. Did you feel it helped the hemi engine was it about the same.

Re: Seafoam Throttle Body/Intake Cleaner

I didn't take my TB off, but holding the blade open & looking in it was cleaner.it seemed to run better / smoother, enough that i was satisfied.
