Service electric system

I know there a like 6 or 8 threads on this but my situation is a little different. I was trying to install in optima yellow top battery and after i hooked up the positive and neg the alarm went off I tried to quickly disconnect the neg terminal I did but the jeep was smoking from between the motor and the drivers tire . I checked fuses 30 amp under hood was blown replaced it put old battery back in. still says service electric system and clicks like its dead so I jumped it. it started on second try. ran for a few mins (long enough for me to put cables away I got in it and revved it up a little and the lights started to dim a little I did it a few more times and it died. It does have a check eng light on but I do not have a scanner.

Re: Service electric system

You can pull the codes using the 'Key Dance':

Why were you changing the battery to begin with? If the original battery isn't up to snuff, you can have all sorts of electrical issues.

Hopefully that burnt fuse did its job and you don't have some fried electronics.
