Shudder when turning?

Ok I am new to this Jeep, only had it for a month and only driven it a few times. It is an 06 GC limited 5.7 with 40k on it. the problem is when I turn real sharp from a stop I notice a shudder coming from the rear. My wife says it is when turned in either direction. Is it the diff or a charictaristic of the awd system? Has anyone noticed this before?

Re: Shudder when turning?

Change the diff fluid and I bet your problem will be solved.

Re: Shudder when turning?

I would say it's because of the diff fluid, but more specifically the limited slip additive has broken down or is not there. Definitely change it and include the LSD additive and it should be gone.

Side question...does anybody have that feeling coming from the front as I'm turing in reverse only? I'm wondering if it's as simple as fluid or do I go thru the BS of taking it to the dealer (3 mo used car warranty)

I'd just try changing the fluid first. If the problem persists, diagnose from there.

Re: Shudder when turning?

I figured that it might be a fluid prob. I'll change it to see but just wanted to ask before I called the dealer to complain.

Yeah, probably a good way to go so I can avoid the hassle of the dealer, ha ha, just didn't want to spend too much $$ in case it had to be replaced again (say the dealer found something). I did some quick searches on it and didn't come up with much, but it's just weird on when it happens; cold fluid too. But, bet it'll be the easier one (fluid)
