Smoke pouring from rear left brake after long drive

So a few weeks back i went on a 30 mile round trip and when i parked the jeep at the destination smoke was pouring from the rear driver-side brake area (smell was a horrible smell, some sort of oil going onto the brake i'm guessing.) So i took it to a shop and they said both my rear drivers-side and passenger-side hub bearings needed to be replaced because they were leaking onto the hot brakes. So i replaced both hub bearings and refilled the oil back there. Then last night i go on another 30 mile trip and for about 2 seconds my ebrake light popped on and then off (when i was on the freeway)...when i arrived home same story, horrible smell from the drivers-side rear brake area. Any suggestions or has this happened to anyone else out there? My knowledge is very minimal and help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Re: Smoke pouring from rear left brake after long drive

inside the rear of the rotor is the parking brake setup; its a drum brake setup and the shoes use the rear of the rear as a housing;

go to a BEtter brake pkace and explain and ask them to inspect the parking brakes./

Re: Smoke pouring from rear left brake after long drive

Same here my parking brake shoes broke in half and was causing a clicking noise not the smoke thing but needed to be repaired, i also however later had a rear caliper freeze up and kinda cause the brakes on that driver side rear to become stuck and smoke was pouring out after being driven, caliper was replaced along with the rear pads and the problem went away but i never noticed until i drove for a bit and they also thought it was a rear axle seal until i made them look again so may want to have the caliper checked as well.
