On WKjeeps.com it says even if you turn the ESP off it is still working when braking. Says if one wheel on that axle is spinning faster it will apply the brake to that spinning wheel and apply torque to the other wheel.

http://wkjeeps.com/wk_esp.htm

When the ESP system has been switched off, a feature of the system remains active. This feature functions similar to a limited slip differential and controls the wheel spin across an axle. If one wheel on an axle is spinning faster than the other, the system will apply the brake of the spinning wheel and allow more engine torque to be applied to the wheel that is not spinning.

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

on quadra drive 2, which uses the electronic limited slip diff's when i shut off the esp, if i break traction the axles and tcase lock 100% and i have full torque to all wheels, brakes never applied. its like best traction ever 100% awd + never had a problem in snow up to 16+ inches, snow type/consistency makes a difference too. i like my wrangler hp's lol ill get a meaty tire when these crap out, i got a deal on these tho.

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

I wont be plowing thru 16" of snow anymore with it lowered, though if there were that much snow on the roads I'd wake up and look outside and go back to bed. lol.

Me, I have no need to or desire to drive in the snow covered roads. I am able to call in and say im working from home catching up on reports for work and I have enough food here to last a month if needed. I think its better to wait till the snow stops and roads are cleared before I venture out.

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

Ordered a set of 4 x General Grabber AT2's today

255/65 R17 H rated 500.00 fitted

Cant get Fortura's or Revo2 in the UK

AT2's have some great write ups on Tirerack and I will report back my findings.

The UK has had a fair bit of snow, and the WK has performed great but the stock Wrangler HP AW tires are a liability

You are going to be very happy with those tires. They have out standing reviews across the board.

I hope so, my biggest concern is noise, but all reviews bar a couple say the AT2's are very quiet

Interestingly, the H rated version only has 13mm of tread depth whereas the T rated has the full 18mm

As most of what I do is at 80mph, I am happier with the higher speed rating and 13mm is still a lot more than the 8mm the Goodyear Wranlger HP AW comes with

Will post images as soon as fitted

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

The General Grabbers def look like the best buy all around price wise and performance reviews on tirerack.com. I would go with them. I went with the Goodyear Fortera SL's because I liked the looks of them better though the performance reviews were slightly lower for snow, though I did plan on putting my stock 17" rims back on with snow tires but now im keeping the 20's and Fortera's on thru winter. The past two snow storms they held up fine and feel comfortable running them thru winter now. I went into a snow covered empty parkinglot to actually see how they held up, and traction was very good with minimal sliding. During hard braking the ESP came on and stopped the car almost right away with no skidding or sliding. Problem now is I dont see the Fortera SL's anymore on tirerack, so I have to locate some and buy them right now just to have a set of spares.

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

I just bought my first jeep 5 months ago. it's a 2005 rocky mountain with a 4.7 and qt2. i owned a 2006 trailblazer before that and its like night and day difference. i love my jeep and snow in mass is no problem with the jeep. Just ordered my 2" daystar lift too. cant wait for it to be here. i also do have the 245 goodyear wrangler sr/a's.

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

We would always make fun of the goodyear stock tires when guiding at JJ's.

SRA -> Stuck Right Away's
GSA -> Get Stuck Anywhere.
