So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

Went to go out tonight, jumped in my wk with quadra trac 2 and it wouldnt move, tires spun, traction control kept comming on, it felt like I was back in my mustang. It's my crappy stock tires, I have like 38k on them they are the 235 all season cheap ones they put on the WK's I felt like such an idiot out in my jeep in maybe 12in of snow and my tires spinning like crazy and me not moving so I gave up grabbed my dad's 09' Avalanche LT with offroad package and drove off.

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

Factory tires on these jeeps,to be quite honest, SUCK. Invest in a better tire and it will be like a new truck.

I think you Limited guys got a meatier 245 all terrain tire vs. the 235 all season car like tires they threw on Laredos. My brother had the 245 all terrains on his WK and it made a huge difference vs. what my Laredo came with. My tread is almost non existent its like a quarter inch deep but ive been trying to put it off till I got a few dollars together for a new set not thinking snow would hit so soon. I think in 2 or 3 weeks i'll be investing in some Duelers. I did have my parents 04' limited with QT2 out earlier and it was doing really well with the tires they had put on earlier this year I might look into them since I think they are cheaper than duelers.

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

If your WK has a Goodyear Wrangler HP's on it...get rid of em! They are the worst tire IN THE WORLD!!!

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

You could invest in some Firestone Destinations. I got'em on my WK 255/70/17. I was changing lanes on the choppy highway, doing 35-40mph after it had been snowing for a while.....just a little twitch of the steering wheel and a little movement in the rear, the tires bit through the snow and slush piles. After a mile or so of driving what seemed like 3mph, I had to change lanes as pass other cars..... I think I got railroaded a bit....but mine were 620$ installed The A/T's impressed me. Oh yeah, that forty year old jack ass in the parking lot with the traction control "off" was me....."O-M-G honey, relax.....these are very important tests in am conducting!"

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

Mine never even moved. Probably from lack of a drivetrain.

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

Which tires do you have? I have the GY Fortera 245s and they are ok but no where near as goon in the snow as what i am used to.

Check out this thread, this is a list i made of most of the stock jeep tires and reviews on them by tire rack and how much they suck. For the grand Cherokee the GY Fortera seems to be the best of
the choices from Jeep for a stock all season tire but still not great.

Re: So yeah I got stuck in the snow...

The General Grabber2's work great in the snow. Hardly spun a tire.

Did you try and reverse and then go back forward and move your steering wheel left and right? Did you try 4LOW?
