Spare wheel options

I'm looking at getting 275/55R20's for a set of WK2 overland wheels I picked up for my WK.

Searching feebly for Pinchweld mod how to's and Speedo-fix and coming up empty.

But this is specifically for the spare. I don't want to buy a 5th overland wheel for a spare (although it wouldn't be horrible), but I wanted to get some ideas for a 5th wheel tire combo that would match. The 20" tires are expensive, so i thought if I could find an 17 or 18" wheel/tire combo that would match the 275/55R20's I'd be OK. Are there any steel wheels that would work? I know the WJ's came with a steel spare often times. My old WJ and this WK has Alloy.

Also anyone know if a tire this size will fit underneath with the hitch mod? Links to a how to that I am too dumb to find?

Thanks!

Found the hitch mod. That is pretty cool. Thanks! I think these tires are a good 1"plus larger than the ones omelet was fitting under there at the time.

Re: Spare wheel options

Not sure he is.....well, I haven't gotten far enough to see if he is. Based on what he had to do to barely make the first set fit, I'm doubting it is possible.....well fully inflated at least.

Ya he could have deflated e does have compressor. He doesn't list that he carries one. Pm him and ask I have read his build a few times skipping pages but at least everything twice.

Re: Spare wheel options

Does anyone know if a steel 17X7.5 WJ rim would fit the WK's? If not my Mother in law has a WJ so I can try it.

Talking about the rim only, I would put a tire on it that would match the size of my 20's

Thanks!

When I went wheeling with Nate back in July, he just had the spare strapped down in his trunk. I think he's planning on building a tire carrier in the back. He can't fit it underneath anymore.

I have 265/70/18's and they BARELY fit with the hitch mod. I have to deflate down to like 5 PSI and then if by chance both rear tires get stuffed up, the rear track bar hits. When just one rear wheel is stuffed, I'm okay and there is no rubbing.
