Relay buzzing Noise after Driving light install

I am hoping someone can help me with this. I just finished installing a set of PIAA driving lights in my 2010 gc ltd. When the DRL are not on the lights function normally (come on with high beams). Once the vehicle is started the daytime running lights cause the driving lights to come on, as the DRL are the high beam also, and I get a buzzing sound from the relay. If I turn off the Driving lights the buzz goes away or if I turn the headlight on and override the DRL all is normal. I am assuming the DRL are not a regular voltage and is causing the issue with the relay. Any idea on how to make the DRL not cause a problem with the relay.

Re: Speaker Noise after Driving light install

Ground problem. Clean grounds better or relocate.

Ya. It might make sense if the daytime running lights are a different voltage... like a dimmer switch in your house causing an audible hum in your stereo...

Assuming you verified your ground with a multimeter... can you disable your DRL?

Audio hums are the worst. I've spent the last two weeks chasing a hum in my house... very frustrating.

Re: Speaker Noise after Driving light install

The DRL's are your brights but run off a "pulse width modulated" signal. (basically is switched on and off at a high rate but the computer modulates how much off versus on time and that keep the lights from reaching full brightness) That's why your relay is buzzing, cause it's also pulsing on and off. I'd recommend you switch to a different power source for the relay or get a relay that is designed to run hid's, as they use a system designed to ignore the pulsing and just stay on constantly.

Re: Speaker Noise after Driving light install

I added a second relay that activates the first one only when the park lights come on. That way the DRL have no impact. Works great so far.
