Re: Speaker Upgrade

i replaced all my speakers with kicker RS components 6.5. i have a 850x4 kicker zx amp running them. i have a factory 2005 radio running the stock dash speakers. then i put in 2 6.5 kicker subs in the rear compartment with a kicker zx 350.2 running them! it sounds amazeing! the 6.5" subs arent over barring and doesnt take up any space, just enough bass not killing your ears

Rear:http://www.justforjeeps.com/kire62sp.html

Front:3.5: I was told that I should get tweeters? Anyone have any ideas on if i should get tweeters or should I just get http://www.justforjeeps.com/kifr6x9sp3tw.html for the fronts and tweeters?

And if I do get the tweeters I was told to get bass blockers for them. How do they hook up and which ones would I need?

This Amp would just be plug and play correct? And the speakers will give a little more bass to the sound system correct?
The seperate 2-way tweeter and 6x9 1-way bass only speaker set up is what we have in our BA system. I don't think the 2-way 6x9 will work, meaning the tweeter, or it might work for 5 seconds before they blow. Correct me on this anyone?

I think that is what the bass blockers are for but i am unsure?

the 6x9's are full range, not just bass, and the kicker 6x9's have blockers on them for the tweeters already. they will work fine. The bass blockers you might need is for the 3.5's. when you install your speakers leave the grills off the 3.5's put in some bass heavy music and watch them. if they start to jump around allot then they are not crossed over and you will need to buy some blockers for them. but if this is the route you want to go with I would probably go with the package with the 6x9 midbass and 3.5 combo. just my thoughts

hold on. i just noticed that the kicker amp is 8 channles. why is it 8 ch? there are only 6 speakers, what are the other 2 channels for?

Re: Speaker Upgrade

I finally installed the dual 10" kicker sub-box upgrade. The directions are good, although I did review the install on wkjeeps.com. The wiring kit is all inclusive and of great quality. I like how small the box is, leaves room for you to use your cargo area. The hardest part for me was getting the power wires fed from engine bay to the cabin via the hood release cable grommet, no room here ARG! I do play with the built in EQ on my stock REC unit to try and dial it in. The box hits pretty hard, not competition but more than enough to enjoy. I plan on purchasing the Kicker upgrade amp next. If you can get your hands on this box for cheap I'd say go for it.
