Re: srt8 vs 5.7l limited hemi

there have been several 5.7L Hemi guys running around 5.3 seconds 0-60 times. that's with custom tune, exhaust, cai, thermostat, etc. no significant engine mods(heads, cams, etc). i'm at 5.6 seconds with the ipod touch accelerometer. i tow a camper 4-5 times a year and a utility trailer weekly. for now, the 5.7L is the choice for me. we'll see what next september brings with the new srt8.

IF it were me and I was 17, I would think again about the choice of vehicles and save money for the future, or for an education. The WK has horrible gas mileage, high maintenance costs, poor reliability, low resale value, and your insurance will be high, plus your used car loan interest rate percentage will be high since you are under 18.

hes already having doubts. i dont know of any 17 year olds, myself back then included, who was responsible enough for a machine like that. its just excessive. if you arent flush with cash or employed on salary, i wouldnt trust a wage job in this economy to keep you afloat.

Damn! At seventeen I had a 1.0ltr Vauxhall Nova, with manual choke and the gearbox from a tank!

Just like this but in blue

I'd wait if I were you dude. Man, you wouldn't even get insurance over here for an SRT8 at your age, in fact you wouldn't get near any V8.

Re: srt8 vs 5.7l limited hemi

Have you gotten insurance quotes on both? Are you still on your parent's policy?
If you are going it on your own, with your own policy, be forewarned that insurance could be astronomical. And that's without any speeding tickets, which would be far more likely with an SRT8
For myself, I just couldn't afford the $10k price difference that seems to be the norm in my area between a used 5.7L and a used SRT8 right now. Plus the insurance thing.
I pay $125 a month for full coverage on the 5.7L. I'm 26 so it just went down, but estimating base off what I have payed quotes I've got in the past, if I were in the 18-21 price point, I would be paying around $275 a month for insurance, 21-25 price point around $200 a month. Fortunately I've been with the same insurance since I've had insurance, and my parents have used that agent for the past 20 something years because I have 2 speeding tickets on my record and insurance quotes from other companies on the 5.7L are around $240 a month That's alost the payment.

Re: srt8 vs 5.7l limited hemi

nix the insurance talk between the two. Suprisingly they are rated the same throughout the line up. Meaning...the V6 is rated the same as the SRT....LOL.

Not according to my insurance. The 5.7L and the 6.1L is the same but the 3.7L asnd the 4.7L have another rating.
