Re: Stock brakes performance

It's warped rotors, nothing to do with ABS.

Re: Stock brakes performance

Hard brake and 130 MPH in a jeep do not belong in the same sentence! That's just asking for trouble bro.. but hey, who are we to tell you how to drive? Good luck, sounds like warped rotors as well..

Hemi WK is just really nice
Re: Stock brakes performance

With the stock WK brakes a hard stop from 130 Mph is going to toast the rotors. I don't know of too many non-performance vehicles that have brakes that can handle hard stops from that far north of 100 Mph.

Re: Stock brakes performance

So the 4.7L will propel the WK to 130?

Ok might be my tacky English. But when I say hard brake I don't mean "slamming on the brakes emergency stop". Just a little harder push than normal.
I've done no aggressive driving with my JEEP. No rally/racing driving of any kind. So it seems very weird that the rotors could be warped already.

But why do I only feel it braking from +120 all down to 30mph? And when braking from 100 I don't feel anything?

130 @ 5300RPM
Don't know about your 5.7 Jeremy. But according to Jeeps chief mechanic here the 4.7 is supposed to be limited to 111Mph. I told him that mine did more than that, and he said that a few of the new HO 4.7's that came here did not have that limiter...so I simply got lucky.

Re: Stock brakes performance

The brakes have to dissipate alot more heat at 130 mph than at 100 mph the rotors are definitely warped....I dont think the Grand Cherokees were designed for sustained speeds that high, other than the SRT of course, and that is why they upgraded the brakes on them to better Brembo units....

Re: Stock brakes performance

I would imagine that even the slightest rotor warpage would be very apparant at 130mph. Be safe at that speed!
