Strange whine when accelerating

Hey guys, im new to the forum. I have a '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with the 5.7. Lately when I accelerate hard there is a strange whine, any ideas on what this could be? There is also a dtc code u110a that I am not sure what it means. Thanks.

U110a is loss of communication with the scm,or steering column module.I'm gonna take a chance and say it's probably not related to your whine noise. That definitly could be a differential noise

Re: Strange whine when accelerating

Could be low on power steering fluid. That's what my whining was.

My 2010 usually has a whine when accelerating in bellow freezing weather. Not sure where you live, or what conditions you drive in...

Mine whines @ high rpm. almost sounds like a supercharger whine.
( I wish LOL)

Ive checked everything. even took it in to the stealership for a complete checkup about a year or so ago. it got a clean bill of health. Im assuming its normal. It runs like a raped ape!

Re: Strange whine when accelerating

x2 on the steering pump.

In the cold, these pumps seem to have a hard time moving the fluid around = a little bit of a whine.

To make sure it is not the differentials, keep it in park and rev the engine a little.

I've also noticed the PS Pump makes a little more noise in the cold AND when the engine cooling fan is on. The hemi and diesels use hydraulic fluid from the PS system to spin the cooling fan...
