Howdy folks. For about the past two months I have been noticing a strange almost "wooshing" or humming ? noise coming from my Jeep when ever driving. It seems to follow the tire rotations. The faster I go the faster it goes and sometimes it gets considerably loud. I cannot tell exactly where it's coming from. Any idear what is going on with my Jeep?

Yes, sounds like a wheel bearing. You would need to replace the whole hub assembly. You can determine which side it is by getting up to speed until you can hear the noise then swerve back and forth shifting the weight of the jeep on or off the bad wheel bearing. If both sides are bad it wont tell you much, but most times one side is worse than the other. But a problem that a lot of people have is they determine which side it is, buy the part and replace it, then they hear the other side.

So my recommendation is to replace both sides. And as much as it sucks, try to replace them with mopar replacements rather than aftermarket replacements that cost half as much. In something like this I prefer to use OEM parts.

Another easy thing I would look at is your brake shields. Sometimes they bend and can make some weird sounds. Always check the simple cheap stuff first.

^^^ agreed. I picked up a stone in between the shield one time and it made the loudest sound!

But from his description I still think it's a (couple) wheel bearing(s).

Well took it to the dealership today. They couldn't find anything and the wheels seemed nice and tight no play at all. They spent about 30 mins inspecting it and came up with nothing . . . . .

Ha no. I can still hear it though. I guess when I look over and notice my wheel rolling next to me on the highway I'll find out for sure whether it was a bearing. LOL. On a side note I am hearing a pretty loud suction sound coming from my engine compartment. I popped the hood last night and my K&N is pretty loud but that wasnt the only suction noise I was hearing, the other was coming from the front right side of my engine compartment. A few friends decided that it was either the belt or pulley that was causing it. That answer did not satisfy me. Lol any ideas? I checked again this morning but I don't see anything that has come loose that may be causing it.

Mine did that for a while, I found the drivers side door weather seal was torn and was letting air in, fixed it and the sounds gone! :)

^ Doubt it. It does it on idle and you can clearly hear it when standing in front.

To me that sounds like a broken, loose or disconnected vacuum line. Pop the hood and try to locate the sounds.

Harbor Freight sells a mechanic's stethoscope that's great for finding vacuum leaks. It lets you point the long tube end around the different fittings to hear just the noise near them.

But if you've got a leak you should also be getting a check engine light and DTC code(s). Anything show up on a DTC check?
