switch to synthetic oil

i know a lot of you guys use synthetic oil and don't use regular oil.

my commute is about to increase to about 1:10 each way. i would like to switch my oil to synthetic...

now the main question is can i switch the oil in 1 shot or should i switch the oil in increments?

i have roughly 17k on my ridiculously fast 3.7 engine

Re: switch to synthetic oil

Wow, Irf is ponying up for Synthetic Oil?

I'm gonna check this IP to make sure it is him. lol

Just change it all in one shot. Don't worry about it. It's not like your engine has 100k on it and you are just changing to Syntheic.

Re: switch to synthetic oil

You can switch with no problems at all. I run nothing but synthetic in all my vehicles and have done so for years. You can also add regular oil if you need to and switch back any time. Synthetic and dino oil are compatable.

Re: switch to synthetic oil

what oil does the 3.7 use? 5w-30? Thats what the 4.7 uses and I suggest the mobil1 extended performance 5w-30. I've used it for years in everything from a 600 hp 3000GT to my wifes Lexus IS.

Re: switch to synthetic oil

Yeah I changed to Synthetic in my high mileage Jeep. I jsut made sure that all of the old oil was out but leaving the drain plug out and pouring a case of Royal Purple in it and wait til it drained. Everything's good now but I'm switching back to Mobile 1.
