Just be smart about it and you shouldn't get too many of those tickets.

I wouldn't bet on that...

But what I will bet on, is that the cop will be much more on edge with his hand very close to his gun, if not in his hands when he does pull you over.

Re: The big debate "window tints" 5% v.s. 20%

I have 35% on the front and factory tint on the rears. I wanted 20%, but the tint shop I took it to wouldn't go darker than 35% due to Nebraska laws. I think that 5% would be way too dark for night driving though.

Re: The big debate "window tints" 5% v.s. 20%

I have stock tint in the rear, 30% up front and a 5% eyebrow on the wind shield. Any more will attract attention where i live. Neither the eyebrow or front windows are actually legal. On my work van i rock 20% on the fronts and vinyl on all the rears. On the old lady's T&C i have 35% on the fronts, stock on the rears and a 20% eyebrow. In PA it is illegal to tint the windshield below the as1 line. Both eyebrows are past it tho.

naw... up here, they just use a shotgun or C8 to ventilate the windows a little... no problem seeing in then as everyone jumps out. J/K

Re: The big debate "window tints" 5% v.s. 20%

When i lived in vegas i purchased 5% all the way around. so now i have 5% fronts and who knows the equivalent on the rest now but its dark! I wouldnt have it any other way going forward. If youre aware of your surroundings you will know that theres a car next to you at night, if youre not much one to pay attention get lighter tint or simply put the window down before you turn into someone, its that simple. and yes i have to put my windows down at night to back up so i can see., but the reward for no direct sun and a little privacy far out weigh the down sides of the visibilty issues i have been able to work around.just my .02. go for 5% all the way brotha!

Re: The big debate "window tints" 5% v.s. 20%

i have a wj and went 20% on the front doors, 20% over the rear stock tint and a 5% brow. if i could do it all over again i would have 5% on the front doors and 5% over the rear factory tint. dont get me wrong, i like my setup but it could always be darker i now know for next time, 5% all over for sure! if u see a cop just roll the window down before u pass them and obey all other laws and they should leave u alone. its only illegal unless u get caught! im going to school to be a cop and cops have bigger problems than tinted window imo! redo it if the police bother ya. i will never own or drive again without tinted windows, i like it dark and no one seeing me! stealth

Cops may have bigger problems, but state troopers don't, at least from my experience. I've never gotten a window tint ticket from a sheriff or the city police department. The state troopers on the other hand...

Most recently: I was doing 74 in a 65 and a state trooper went by me at probably 120mph and then slammed on his brakes, got behind me and pulled me over. I thought for sure he was going to write me a ticket for speeding after he just did the fastest drive-by I've ever witnessed a law enforcement officer doing. Needless to say, he asked me to roll my window half-way up so he could test the percentage. Wrote me a ticket and sent me on my way

The one before that: I was pumping gas at a gas station and a state trooper pulled in and told me my tint was too dark. Gave me a ticket on private property. I fought it in court and won.

The one before that: gave me a speeding ticket and then a window tint ticket.

Re: The big debate "window tints" 5% v.s. 20%

Both troopers must have been having slow days lol. Doing 120 to catch u for tint is too dangerous! And for only 9 mph over..? My teacher went by this rule when he was a cop "9 over and your fine, 10 and your mine!" Lol. How did u win the gas station tint ticket in court!?!? That's awesome congrats! Hahah

Re: The big debate "window tints" 5% v.s. 20%

thanks guys for all the suggestions! i love the talk it's helping me a lot. i'm still uncertain i might have to be inside a car and see one with different front tints to do the 5 vs the 15 or 20..might check it out at my tint shop first but yea i'm in jersey it's annoying with the laws but like you guys said you can roll it stealth and not get caught! *knock on wood* haha
