If you don't mind spending money you could likely utilise the first several inches of the Dakota headers and cut them off where the fitment becomes a problem (probably mostly around the steering shaft), then custom make or modify the rest, obviously modifying as little as possible to reduce cost.

if its a crack just use JB weld and header wrap till something comes out..... buddy did that on his dakota for a while till he had the money. it kinda janky but would work.

ive never had luck with aftermarket headers. they are a money pit if you ask me. i put some longtubes on my mustang and had nothing but problems as a result. not to mention the performance gain wasnt worth the money.
