Re: Ticking noise from Rear

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me about a moth ago and when i pulled off the rear disc the brake shoe fell apart. I was told that beacause they are not used often they rust and the compound unsticks from the metal part of the shoe. I replaced the shoes and now ticking sound is completely gone. Hope this is of some help to you

Re: Ticking noise from Rear

Happens to me all the time, generally a rock of some kind either stuck in the brakes after sitting in the sun for a few days or something stuck in a tire.
Freaking annoying but simple fix.

Re: Ticking noise from Rear

Had the same ticking noise a few month back, ended up pulling the right rear disk off and inside this is what I found, installed new pad now good as new no ticking/slapping sound

Thanks a lot for the pic sdionne. Maybe tomorrow I'll go ahead and take it apart hopefully I spot it something as simple as the shoes. Thanks for your help.

Re: Ticking noise from Rear

So I finally had the chance to get this done. Turned out being the shoes, it was just hanging freely and would rotate with the rotor causing it to click. Just wanted to update the post in case any one ever has this problem.

just curious... how many miles were on your jeep at the time you fixed the problem?

My jeep has been making this noise for a long time now. Im starting to think its the same issue you had.

I had the same problem the e-brake pad detached from the shoes...I had ~94,000 on my 2005 when it started happening. Fixed it this past weekend

I had about 159,000 when I replaced them but it started making noise at probably 154,000, I just kept pushing it off since the weather was so cold when I started happening.

Its a very easy job if youve never done it before, just pay attention to where the springs hook to. Took me about 20 minutes to do both sides.
