Tips for removing vinyl headlight tint?

Hey guys, I bought my WK with some ugly vinyl tint on the headlights. I peeled back a corner of it and it left a nasty, sticky mess on the headlight lens. Anyone have any tips to remove these things?

Re: Tips for removing vinyl headlight tint?

I have read some horror stories about using goo gone on headlights. It isn't safe on all types of plastic. Anyone here use it on WK headlights before?

Re: Tips for removing vinyl headlight tint?

i have used goo gone on the headlights to remove the windo-weld sealant after opening my headlights to paint. You can also buff it after or use some rubbing compound.

Re: Tips for removing vinyl headlight tint?

I'd expect WD-40 or Goo Gone either one to work. If you still have any film left, use a hair dryer to warm it up good before removal.

The plastic lenses won't be hurt by Goo Gone, and WD-40 is an old reliable cruft removal tool.

Re: Tips for removing vinyl headlight tint?

I used a steamer to get it off my lights. It worked great. No damage. It took some time but the goo all came off. I was worried goo gone would mess up the lights.

Re: Tips for removing vinyl headlight tint?

Magic eraser..... these are awesome, work great on all kinds of hard to clean stuff using NO chemicals, and leaving no residue.
