Tow hitch receiver

Hey everyone.. First post here. Glad to be a part of this community!

I recently purchased a 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited V8 Hemi. The jeep didnt come with tow package and I am wanting to install hitch. I looked at similar jeeps and I noticed the back bumper is cutout for clearance around hitch receiver. My jeep has no cutout. What are my options? Do i need a whole new bumper?

Re: Tow hitch receiver

Do a search or have a look at some Build Threads- I have seen some who purchase the molding and cut out there own bumper- looks proffessional.

Re: Tow hitch receiver

Its realtively easy to cut the bumper, i beleive the hitch will come with a template and molding for cutting.

Very easy to cut the bumper and put the bezel on! I have a hitch if you're interested, bezel is sold separately. PM me...

Re: Tow hitch receiver

i have a 06 wk with the 3.7.. would it be a waste to install a tow hitch? i was interested in making it look stock with the bumper cut out and all.

not a total wast if your not going to use it to hale things but you have the option. also can use it as a recovery point or even for protection to the rear bumper with a hitch step for parking

Re: Tow hitch receiver

what type of tow/haul capacity would the 3.7 allow? i mean could it tow a small boat or some smaller toys... quad, jet ski's, etc...?

Re: Tow hitch receiver

If you don't want to cut into your bumper, there is always this option:

Re: Tow hitch receiver

actually would rather cut into the bumper.. cant be too difficult. i also really like the stock receiver look that jeep offered! i was just wondering what kind of tow capacity the 3.7 would offer.
