Re: Tpms

The more advanced system shows a pic on the EVIC screen that will show the top vies shape of the jeeps tires and what each tires pressure is at.

That might still cause the ding and light to stay on, because of a fault in the cuircut.

If you checked the air pressure and the tires are all good then id live with the small light on for now, but prob have to have the dealer check them out to see the bad one/ones. Cheaper to prob buy all new ones off ebay than buy from a dealer though. maybe even tire shops can check them since they deal with them all the time.

Re: Tpms

Ebay sells them on average for under $100 shipped for 4. But you need to go to wkjeeps.com and make sure you get the right part numbers for your year and model wk.

Re: Tpms

I'm not running the TPMS sensors anymore with my new wheels/tires. I can live with the light - eventually I'm going to remove the bulb from the cluster or cover it.

Re: Tpms

Thats basically what i am going to do until i get new sensors. My friend is a tech at a jeep dealership and apparently its illegal for a shop to remove them from the vehicle or disable the system because it is a safety feature. That does not mean people dont do it. I just wish we could turn it on and off.

Re: Tpms

Huh, its illegal to remove the TPMS from the car, I dont think so. Maybe removing the seatbelts since in certain states its the law to wear them, but I never heard of a law that requires a car to have TPMS. Thats a crock of shit. Its not a safety feature, its a convienence feature.

If you have 17" rims and regular tires I wouldnt worry about putting regular valve stems in, since you can always tell if a tire is low by looking at it, but with the 20's I have on and low profile tires I would never of known unless I got on my hands n knees looking. The TPMS light on the dash informed me a rear tire was low, though if it were in the front I prob would of felt some major understeer.

Doesnt the spare have a TPMS in it you can swap out into a wheel your currently running, that way you only need to buy one new one?

Re: Tpms

I went to Town Fair Tire in Nashua and they were just going to mount my new rims with regular valve stems, until I kindly asked them to swap out my TPMS which they did for free. At no time did they mention it was "illegal" to use regular valve stems in a car with the TPMS. hmmm.

Re: Tpms

if you remove the spare the light will stay on or you can flash it at the dealer and get rid of the light ... come to think of it ur gonna have to flash it regardless so better off buying one and then flashing it ...

or just remove em all and there is no such law they're just lazy lmao

Re: Tpms

I removed my spare tire to put my srt exhaust on and the TPMS light is not on. The spare is way across town in my parents basement, lol. I think its because its picking up sensors at the 4 corners of the car working fine.

Re: Tpms

Just get regular valve stems and put a piece of black electrical tape over the dash light. Ha. Or maybe seeing the light on all the time when you drive will make you save up to fix your car silly man.
