Re: Tranny temp with scangauge on 5.7

Don't know for sure with the Scangauge, but the DashHawk has a PID for trans. temp. Only problem is that it doesn't work properly with the 545RFE. It does work properly on my Hemi LX with the NAG1 transmission though. On the WK, it seems to read about 100* high. Do you have the Scangauge II? You might check with the SG folks and see if they have a Parameter Identification Data (PID) for the 545RFE that works. It would be nice to be able to read the trans. temp., especially if you tow or do a lot of mountain driving.

Edit: If you're unable to get the Scangauge to work, you may want to look into the UltraGauge. Apparently it is similar to the DashHawk, but I am not sure it has a PID for the trans. temp. either. Here's the ref. to it:

Wish I would've seen this earlier, could've got you to those codes earlier. I've been running my ScangaugeII with transmission temps in F ever since I installed it a couple of years back.

Re: Tranny temp with scangauge on 5.7

Depending on the type of driving you are doing and the ambient temperature, this sounds reasonable.

I was always told to drive at least 30min before checking trans fluid level, if wanting to check it at the hot full mark.

Re: Tranny temp with scangauge on 5.7

So, obviously you can program PID's into the Scangauge II?? How is that done? Is there a programming feature included with it? Reason I ask is I am wondering if I can figure out a way to reprogram my DashHawk so it gives me accurate readings, instead of reading 100* or more above actual?

Re: Tranny temp with scangauge on 5.7

Yeah those temps seem normal according to my SGII. And the xguage commands on the SGII with the tranny temps is the #2 reason I bought the SGII. #1 was for a voltmeter.
